Phone and internet help for people out of work - what worked for you?

My home internet costs more than I can manage on unemployment. This is my first time dealing with any of this. Some applications need a computer. What did you switch to?

Libraries lend Wi-Fi hotspots in some towns. Mine lent one for three weeks.
