Phone and internet help for people out of work (update)

I am worried about keeping my phone and internet on during my search. It has been a long 8 weeks. Some applications need a computer. What did you switch to?

I switched to a low-cost plan through my carrier and cut my bill by almost half.

Libraries lend Wi-Fi hotspots in some towns. Mine lent one for three weeks.
