Phone and internet help for people out of work (update)

My home internet costs more than I can manage on unemployment. I worked as a production planner before this. I heard of low-cost plans for people with limited income. What else should I consider?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 8 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
