Phone and internet help for people out of work (update)

I am worried about keeping my phone and internet on during my search. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. Employers call and email constantly.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I switched to a low-cost plan through my carrier and cut my bill by almost half.
