Phone and internet help for people out of work after 9 years as a barista

I am worried about keeping my phone and internet on during my search. I heard of low-cost plans for people with limited income. What did you switch to?

Libraries lend Wi-Fi hotspots in some towns. Mine lent one for three weeks.
