Phone and internet help for people out of work - 11 months and counting

I am worried about keeping my phone and internet on during my search. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. Employers call and email constantly. What else should I consider?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
