Keeping my phone on while I search - what worked for you?

I use my phone as my only connection. There are 6 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. Employers call and email constantly. What else should I consider?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
