Keeping my phone on while I search - what worked for you?

I am worried about keeping my phone and internet on during my search. There are 6 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. Some applications need a computer. What else should I consider?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Libraries lend Wi-Fi hotspots in some towns. Mine lent one for three weeks.
