Keeping my phone on while I search - what worked for you?

I am worried about keeping my phone and internet on during my search. Any experience at all would help. I heard of low-cost plans for people with limited income. What did you switch to?

Keep the number you use for job applications, even if you change plans. Employers will call it.

I switched to a low-cost plan through my carrier and cut my bill by almost half.
