Keeping my phone on while I search (update)

My home internet costs more than I can manage on unemployment. I worked as a call-centre agent before this. I heard of low-cost plans for people with limited income. What else should I consider?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
