Keeping my phone on while I search (Portland)

I am worried about keeping my phone and internet on during my search. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I heard of low-cost plans for people with limited income. What else should I consider?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 7 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
