Keeping my phone on while I search - 9 months and counting

I use my phone as my only connection. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I heard of low-cost plans for people with limited income. What else should I consider?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
