How do you handle bills on unemployment? (update)

I am $1000 short each month and trying to find it. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I listed needs and wants and cut a few subscriptions. Did lenders work with you?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
