How do you handle bills on unemployment? - any advice?

My income is now a fraction of what it was as a bank teller and I am trying to cover the essentials. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I listed needs and wants and cut a few subscriptions. What helped you?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
