How do you handle bills on unemployment? after 13 years as an IT help-desk technician

I am $200 short each month and trying to find it. I am in Knoxville, in case local advice matters. The rent is fixed and the car payment is high. What helped you?

I called each lender and asked for a hardship plan. Two agreed to lower payments for a few months.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 2 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
