How do you handle bills on unemployment?

My income is now a fraction of what it was as a mechanic and I am trying to cover the essentials. I worked as a mechanic before this. I listed needs and wants and cut a few subscriptions. What helped you?

A paper list of bills by due date helped me more than an app. I could see the month at a glance.
