Getting to interviews without a car in Dallas (Dallas)

I need a cheap way to get to several appointments. I am in Dallas, in case local advice matters. I do not want to be late. What do you use?

Our transit agency has a reduced-fare pass for people with low income. The application took a week.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
