Does anyone have tips for local transport to interviews? - what worked for you?

I need a cheap way to get to several appointments. There are 6 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. Some employers are off the main lines. What do you use?

Some workforce centres hand out bus tokens for interviews. Ask at the desk.
