Does anyone have tips for local transport to interviews? (update)

I need a cheap way to get to several appointments. I can walk part of the way.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I planned routes the night before with a trip planner and left twenty minutes early.
