Does anyone have tips for local transport to interviews? (update)

I do not have a car and interviews in Detroit are spread around. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. Some employers are off the main lines. What do you use?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
