Does anyone have tips for local transport to interviews? (update)

The bus takes almost an hour to reach the places hiring as a customer-service rep. I do not want to be late. Are there discounted passes?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 10 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
