Does anyone have tips for local transport to interviews? (update)

The bus takes almost an hour to reach the places hiring as an event coordinator. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I do not want to be late. What do you use?

I planned routes the night before with a trip planner and left twenty minutes early.
