Does anyone have tips for local transport to interviews? - any advice?

The bus takes almost an hour to reach the places hiring as an IT help-desk technician. There are 5 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I can walk part of the way. What do you use?

I planned routes the night before with a trip planner and left twenty minutes early.
