Does anyone have tips for local transport to interviews? - 9 months and counting

I need a cheap way to get to several appointments. Any experience at all would help. Some employers are off the main lines. Are there discounted passes?

Our transit agency has a reduced-fare pass for people with low income. The application took a week.
