Does anyone have tips for local transport to interviews? - 6 months and counting

The bus takes almost an hour to reach the places hiring as an office manager. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I can walk part of the way. Are there discounted passes?

Our transit agency has a reduced-fare pass for people with low income. The application took a week.
