Does anyone have tips for local transport to interviews? - 5 months and counting

The bus takes almost an hour to reach the places hiring as an electrician's helper. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I can walk part of the way. Are there discounted passes?

I planned routes the night before with a trip planner and left twenty minutes early.
