Childcare while job hunting, what worked? - what worked for you?

I have 7 kids and I need to interview and work without a sitter. I looked into subsidies but the forms are long. What worked for you?

Libraries and community centres run free activities that gave me a couple of hours.

I swapped afternoons with another parent. It took some planning and saved us both money.
