Childcare while job hunting, what worked? (Raleigh)

I have 18 kids and I need to interview and work without a sitter. I am in Raleigh, in case local advice matters. I looked into subsidies but the forms are long.

Our county's childcare assistance took about 4 weeks to approve, but it covered most of the cost.
