Childcare while job hunting, what worked?

My hours will change when I find a job and childcare is my biggest worry. I worked as an electrician's helper before this. A neighbour offered help but not every day. What worked for you?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

Libraries and community centres run free activities that gave me a couple of hours.
