Childcare while job hunting, what worked? - any advice?

I have 3 kids and I need to interview and work without a sitter. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. A neighbour offered help but not every day. What worked for you?

Ask the school about after-school programmes. Some are free or based on income.
