Childcare while job hunting, what worked? after 4 years as an accounts payable clerk

My hours will change when I find a job and childcare is my biggest worry. I am in Seattle, in case local advice matters. A neighbour offered help but not every day. What worked for you?

Our county's childcare assistance took about 2 weeks to approve, but it covered most of the cost.
