Childcare while job hunting, what worked? after 17 years as a hotel front-desk agent

My hours will change when I find a job and childcare is my biggest worry. Any experience at all would help. A neighbour offered help but not every day.

I swapped afternoons with another parent. It took some planning and saved us both money.
