Childcare while job hunting, what worked? after 12 years as an accounts payable clerk

I have 12 kids and I need to interview and work without a sitter. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. A neighbour offered help but not every day. What worked for you?

Our county's childcare assistance took about 2 weeks to approve, but it covered most of the cost.
