Childcare while job hunting, what worked? - 6 months and counting

My hours will change when I find a job and childcare is my biggest worry. There are 8 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. A neighbour offered help but not every day. Is there an emergency option?

Our county's childcare assistance took about 16 weeks to approve, but it covered most of the cost.

I swapped afternoons with another parent. It took some planning and saved us both money.
