Childcare while job hunting, what worked?

I have 6 kids and I need to interview and work without a sitter. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. A neighbour offered help but not every day. Is there an emergency option?

Ask the school about after-school programmes. Some are free or based on income.

Our county's childcare assistance took about 23 weeks to approve, but it covered most of the cost.
