Childcare while job hunting, what worked? - 3 months and counting

The daycare near me wants more than I can pay. I am in Columbus, in case local advice matters. A neighbour offered help but not every day. Is there an emergency option?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
