Childcare while job hunting, what worked?

My hours will change when I find a job and childcare is my biggest worry. This is my first time dealing with any of this. A neighbour offered help but not every day. Is there an emergency option?

Our county's childcare assistance took about 2 weeks to approve, but it covered most of the cost.
