Childcare while job hunting, what worked? - 10 months and counting

I have 8 kids and I need to interview and work without a sitter. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. A neighbour offered help but not every day.

Our county's childcare assistance took about 24 weeks to approve, but it covered most of the cost.
