Budgeting tips when income drops - what worked for you?

I am $600 short each month and trying to find it. I do not usually post, so bear with me. The rent is fixed and the car payment is high. What helped you?

I called each lender and asked for a hardship plan. Two agreed to lower payments for a few months.

Sell things you do not use. I made about $600 from a weekend of listing.
