Budgeting tips when income drops - what worked for you?

My income is now a fraction of what it was as a bank teller and I am trying to cover the essentials. I am nervous about falling behind. Did lenders work with you?

I called each lender and asked for a hardship plan. Two agreed to lower payments for a few months.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
