Budgeting tips when income drops (update)

My income is now a fraction of what it was as a call-centre agent and I am trying to cover the essentials. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I am nervous about falling behind. Did lenders work with you?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

I called each lender and asked for a hardship plan. Two agreed to lower payments for a few months.
