Budgeting tips when income drops - any advice?

My income is now a fraction of what it was as an administrative assistant and I am trying to cover the essentials. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I listed needs and wants and cut a few subscriptions. Any apps or methods?

A paper list of bills by due date helped me more than an app. I could see the month at a glance.
