Budgeting tips when income drops - any advice?

We are a household of 10 and the budget no longer works. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The rent is fixed and the car payment is high. What helped you?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 8 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

A paper list of bills by due date helped me more than an app. I could see the month at a glance.
