Budgeting tips when income drops - 6 months and counting

My income is now a fraction of what it was as an IT help-desk technician and I am trying to cover the essentials. I do not usually post, so bear with me. The rent is fixed and the car payment is high. What helped you?

Sell things you do not use. I made about $600 from a weekend of listing.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
