Best tools for tracking applications?, nurse's aide here

I am looking for free tools that do not spam me. I do not usually post, so bear with me. A spreadsheet with dates and follow-ups worked a little. Are there tools to avoid?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 14 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
