Best tools for tracking applications?, medical assistant here

I am tracking my applications in a notebook and want something better. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I do not want to pay for premium features. Are there tools to avoid?

Use a plain one-column résumé with standard headings. Mine got more replies after I simplified it.
