Best tools for tracking applications? - first time posting

I am tracking my applications in a notebook and want something better. I worked as an IT help-desk technician before this. A spreadsheet with dates and follow-ups worked a little.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
