Best tools for tracking applications? after 5 years as a customer-service rep

I am looking for free tools that do not spam me. I want reminders to follow up. Any good templates?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 14 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
