Best tools for tracking applications? after 11 years as a medical assistant

I am tracking my applications in a notebook and want something better. There are 11 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. A spreadsheet with dates and follow-ups worked a little. Are there tools to avoid?

Use a plain one-column résumé with standard headings. Mine got more replies after I simplified it.
