Best tools for tracking applications? - 11 months and counting

I am tracking my applications in a notebook and want something better. It has been a long 25 weeks. I want reminders to follow up. What do you use?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 11 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
